Chiniot girl given in Vani

CHINIOT : A four-year-old girl was married off to 25-year-old man as wani to settle a love marriage dispute here on Friday.
As per details, Abdul Ghafoor Malah, a resident of Village Hersa Sheikh contracted love marriage with Nazia Bibi, a resident of Tehsil Phalia, District Mandi Bahauddin a couple of months ago.  However, family of Nazia tried to get the girl back and also got registered fake FIR against Nazara Malah, father of Abdul Ghafoor with the Saddr Police. But on their refusal to return the girl, the girl family convened a panchayat in the village. The panchayat members decreed to marry four-year-old Adeeba Bibi, sister of Abdul Ghafoor to Riasat Ali, brother of Nazia Bibi to settle the love-marriage dispute.
Nikkah of the minor girl was solemnised on the spot.
On application of Nazara Malah, the Saddr Police registered a case against 18 accused including the panchayat members and Nikkah Khwan under sections 310 and 109 PPC.
Saddr Police SHO Rai Arshad Kharal told the media that three accused had been arrested while raids were being conducted to arrest the rest of the accused.
