Health indicators improvement: Chiniot ranked 3rd in Punjab

CHINIOT – The district has been ranked third among all the 36 districts of Punjab in the improvement of health indicators.
According to District Officer (DO) Health Dr Munir Ahmad, the ranking was based on improvement in effectiveness and outreach of the EPI Programme, Lady Health workers programme, mother and child health and management of district health information system.
The district got improvement in all these indicators and has been ranked third in the province. The DO Health was also awarded a shield and an appreciation certificate by Punjab Health Services Director Dr Akhtar Rashid.
DO Health Munir Ahmad said that number of patients visiting public sector hospitals in the district had increased by 40 per cent over the past three years. Similarly, the ratio of treatment during pregnancies increased by 45 percent and birth deliveries had surged by 200 percent in government hospitals. On the hand, birth by Skilled Birth Attendants in Chiniot remained 74 percent which is the highest ratio in all districts of Punjab.
He said that the posts of Statistical officer and Computer operator were lying vacant in this newly formed district and he himself and his stenographer Kashif Hashmi had to make up for the shortage.
